Tour of the Power Soccer World Cup in Tokyo, Japan

Seven teams from around the world met in Tokyo, Japan in October 2007 to compete in the first ever Power Soccer World Cup.
Known as powerchair football outside the U.S., it’s a sport played by people in motorized wheelchairs.
It’s co-ed and multi-generational, with players from age 13 to their 50s competing. The international powerchair football association, FIPFA, has been meeting for the past two years to develop international rules for the game and prepare for the World Cup.
The first World Cup included teams from Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Japan, Portugal and the United States, plus a delegation from Canada.
The organizers hope to have a second World Cup in conjunction with the 2010 FIFA World Cup in
South Africa and an exhibition at the 2012 Paralympic Events in England.
